Broken down on the I-15? Do this first.
6 quick steps to stay safe on the shoulder while we're rolling to you. The Mojave stretch between Barstow and Las Vegas is no joke — heat, high speeds, and long sightlines make every breakdown serious.
- 1
Get off the road safely
Pull as far onto the shoulder as possible. Aim for a straight stretch with good sightlines so trucks can see you from a distance.
- 2
Hazards on — immediately
Four-way flashers go on before you do anything else. At night this is the single most important thing.
- 3
Set warning triangles
If you can safely, place reflective triangles ~10, 100, and 200 feet behind. For semis this is required by FMCSA.
- 4
Stay in the cab on shoulder side
Get out only on the passenger side, away from traffic. Don't stand between your vehicle and oncoming traffic.
- 5
Call dispatch with location
Call (760) 422-9884. Tell us mile marker, direction of travel, vehicle type, and what's wrong. Text photos if helpful.
- 6
Stay hydrated
Mojave heat kills batteries — and people. Keep water in the cab year-round. If summer, run AC sparingly to save fuel.
Keep in your vehicle (Mojave-ready kit)
- • 1 gallon of water per person
- • Reflective triangles or flares
- • Working flashlight + spare batteries
- • Tire pressure gauge
- • Phone charger (12V)
- • Sunscreen and a hat
We're rolling. Sit tight.
